How You Feeling Anthony Grant?

As Austin Powers once put it, "Ouch baby very ouch." Can't imagine Alabama head coach Anthony Grant is feeling to good right now as he watches the team that he once put on the map dance their way to the Final Four. Grant left VCU two years ago after he and classic great college point guard Eric Maynor orchestrated a first round upset against the Dukies. Now he sits at home after two lackluster seasons in Alabama (yes, I know they were on the bubble but are they in? nope.) being force-fed the story of a Cinderella that he helped create. Jesus, that must suck for him. It's like leaving your wife only to end up living in a van down by the river like Matt Foley.

All of this begs the question to me of whether or not its better for these mid-major coach's to leave because I am gonna be honest, I doubt there is any feeling better then making a run like this. The satisfaction of making that deep run must make these coaches cum like baby gorillas. Think about it: George Mason did it, Jim Larranaga stayed. Gonzaga did it, Mark Few stayted. Butler did it, Brad Stevens stayed and delivered an encore. Whereas you look at mid-major coach's that left for the bigger programs and the overwhelming majority struggle. I mean Brucie Pearl can't get a job at SportBinge right now and he made the jump (thats a complete lie, he can have a job here). Moral of the story is that if I am Shaka Smart, I am staying at VCU and devoting the rest of my career towards fighting for the little guy because there is nothing better for college basketball and the sport of basketball than what happened today in San Antonio. You better believe that.
