5 Seconds

So we finally had our first REAL officiating controversy in the Texas and Arizona game. If you were living under a rock, or were like me last week and couldn't be reached because you were too busy getting fucked up and chasing vagina then you should know that Texas had the ball inbounding with the lead and just needed to get the ball in, sink some free throws and make like Jay Z and move on to the next one. Well Arizona's press forced freshman inbounder Corey Joseph to panic and he called a time out. Too late pal. The ref called a 5 second violation, Arizona stud Derrick Williams converted an And 1 and as they say... the rest is history and the Uncle was more than pleased.

The controversy however comes because it is seen that the official, with his hand, counts only 4 seconds, Joseph calls the timeout at what looks to be 4 seconds, but is whistled for the violation. While that may seem unfair to Texas, further analysis shows that while the ref only counted to 4... in real time it was indeed 5 seconds. So what is the correct call?

I personally think that human error is part of the game so if the ref had 4 seconds, then Texas should have been awarded the time out. But when it comes to my Wildcats I say human error can go blow itself. If in real time it was 5 seconds then it was 5 seconds. If I have 5 seconds to upload a paper and I don't do it in the allotted time then I don't get a fucking extension and neither should Texas. Seems like a pretty cut and dry analogy to me...

My question is why don't they have another shot clock or something that counts 5 seconds, or the 10 seconds to bring the ball across the timeline. I don't see the refs counting with their hands the 35 second shot clock. C'mon baby, it aint that hard.

To be honest I really don't care because it benefitted my team, but if Karma is indeed a bitch, then I wouldn't be surprised if through some awful officiating the Wildcats get burned next round. Wait a minute, they're playing Duke, of course their gonna get burned on officiating.
